The Complement of a Yellow Dahlia is a Blue Dragonfly
Artist
Kimberlee Baxter
Medium

Description
A blue dragonfly's form is illuminated when it lights upon a brightly colored Dahlia Flowerhead. The sun's rays are hitting it, make it look almost "electrified". I chose complementary colors that would create interest and work together, not fight with each other! In this painting, I tried to show a lot of contrast--light and dark intensities of color, which not only make for a more interesting composition, but also help the dragonfly to stand out more!
