Title
Illumination of a Blue Dragonfly's Form at Nightfall Painting
Artist
Kimberlee Baxter
Medium
Painting - Acrylic
Description
A blue dragonfly's form is illuminated when it lights upon a chartreuse colored bamboo tree limb. It is almost nightfall, and the way that the moonlight's rays are hitting it, make it look almost "electrified". I chose complementary colors that would create interest and work together, not fight with each other! In this painting, I tried to show a lot of contrast--light and dark intensities of color, which not only make for a more interesting composition, but also help the dragonfly to stand out more!

Thank you, Nick, I really appreciate it! This painting is hanging on my family room wall and seems to "change" colors depending on the time of day and, sometimes, actually looks even more like a fly when it looks darker! If it were smaller, I would be tempted to think it's real and look for a way to get it out of my home! LOL! I do love it, but it is almost "too realistic"! The other Dragonfly paintings I will paint in the future will be more stylistic, unless someone commissions me to paint them realistic! Glad you like it! Thanks for your support!

Lisa, thank you so much for leaving your heartfelt and sincere comment as to why Dragonflies are special to you! I am glad that they "choose" you when you go out to do your training in the summer! I think that is so neat, that you can find a blessing in being visited by God's creatures, even the small ones! Thanks for your support! Please come back soon to visit!

The reason I love dragon flies is that I like to train in the summer instead of painting in my studio. I don't know why they give me so much happiness while jogging, biking and swimming, but when they choose me, they stay with me for quite some time; I imagine they are angels. Thank you for introducing your work to me, lovely picture in my opinion.
