Description
This work is symbolic in that the figure enshrouded in black represents any oppressor or evil doer that persecutes God's people! Now, who are "God's people"? Well, that's you and me! We are all of God's children and have an inheritance to claim as his adopted sons and daughters when we accept Christ! I painted the angel kneeling in the front to represent the persecuted Christians, because when people are persecuted for Jesus' sake, it is like persecuting Christ and the body of believers and the church, which Christ is the head of! Moreover, if any be in Christ, then he or she has the Comforter or the Holy Spirit to help them through any trial or temptation, so that nothing is too great for us to endure! God will give us a way of escape! In a way, I picture an angel symbolically taking our place and enduring for us! In this work, the prayers of the afflicted are carried up on sacred wings; hence, the 12 doves, representing the 12 tribes of Israel, too...bearing them up on their wings! The tears that are cried are from heaven and represent their sadness and caring for our suffering! This painting has a curvilinear shape in an abstract form to represent a tear from heaven. I chose to put rainbow colors in it to remind the oppressed of God's promise that He will not forget us!
Genesis 9:13
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the convenant between me and the earth."
Ezekiel 1:28
Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard the voice of one speaking."
Speaking of persecution, there is an amazing story I would like to share with you in one of my blogs I will post very soon about a man's miraculous conversion who persecuted many Christians, because he thought he was doing the right thing for his faith and society! This is very interesting how this story parallels with what the terrorists groups are doing now in modern day Damascus, which is the capital of Syria and the second largest city in that country!
