A single rose is showcased from the original work "Delight of Grandma's Roses Painting". Grandma's Roses are preserved here for reflection and preserving precious and timeless memories. In years past, all of her grandchildren have enjoyed their bright velvety texture and heady scent in their due season. They are truly a delight to the senses and the soul when in full bloom!
The title was inspired by my work "Love...a beautiful rose with thorns!" Please refer to it under my other images or under the "Flowers and Leaves" Gallery. It is a beautiful metaphor of life and of a mother's love, which is bittersweet, in that we don't get to enjoy the full promise of life without the "thorns" or the sacrifice (the tears and the heartache) that often comes along with it! This work has the red faded on the rose, and the background is toned down to a simple black and white and gray background. Before I had my two children, I worked selling furniture and helping people to decorate their homes--my first passion--interior decorating/design and art! Before I went back to my first passion, I worked for a variety of non-profits and government sponsored programs--including AmeriCorps (domestic version of the PeaceCorps), D.H.S., and the University of TN.
