Ever since I first laid eyes on a Vincent Van Gogh’s amazingly spiritual painting “The Starry Night” (1889), I never look at the sky and take it for granted...he inspired me to see through an almost metaphysical filter or lens and look beyond the immediate sense! In this work, I tried to create a spiritual feeling of wonderment that is like that of a child’s when viewing something for the first time. I hope that I can inspire my viewers in some small way to see the beauty that is all around them, if they really look!
If look closely, you’ll recognize a portion of my painting “Butterfly Sunday” that was inspired from Bob Wayne Mullins work. In addition to being a professional for a national charitable organization, Bob Wayne Mullins is a devoted photographer who is on a mission to find that perfect shot in nature, places, people, or things! Before I had my two children, I worked selling furniture and helping people to decorate their homes--my first passion--interior decorating/design and art! Before I went back to my first passion, I worked for a variety of non-profits and government sponsored programs--including AmeriCorps (domestic version of the PeaceCorps), D.H.S., and the University of TN.
