This is the second version of illustrating my original poem "All the Parts of a Mother's Heart..." in a card form using a cherry painted acrylic abstract background. Please look for the second part of this work that would suitable for the inside of card to accompany this work.
"All the parts of a mother's heart
are woven together a bit like a daisy.
Like its many different radiating petals,
Finding meaning and purpose in the midst
of our exhaustion can be at times, a bit hazy (if not even a bit crazy)...
Splintered and going off in so many different directions,
Children, family, and friends--make up the best parts,
But the cares of this world pull at us and often
require too much of our affections!
If only our vision could become more centered...
Like the intersection of all of its petals in the Flowerhead,
Now our focus could, alas, become clearer!
If only all the important parts of our attention
could be brought at the close...

Before I had my two children, I worked selling furniture and helping people to decorate their homes--my first passion--interior decorating/design and art! Before I went back to my first passion, I worked for a variety of non-profits and government sponsored programs--including AmeriCorps (domestic version of the PeaceCorps), D.H.S., and the University of TN. Before working in the non-profits, I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and really enjoyed being politically active with a group that addressed socio-economic injustices!
