When I first began to think about painting Jesus, I wanted to study about how he has been depicted throughout time, particularly through the eyes of the Western part of the World! Interestingly, because Westerners have over the last centuries, been in the forefront of leading the rest of the world, they tend to have a rather egocentric view in interpreting the history of the Christian Bible. Therefore, Christ has generally been depicted looking like a Caucasion, instead of someone of Jewish or Mediterranean descent! However, we know from reading the bible, that he was definitely Jewish and was the son (in a material sense), of a carpenter, but was (divinely) in spirit, the Son of God, or spirit incarnate, and Mary was his mother. We also know from careful examination of the bible, that he was humble or meak and put others first before himself! While on earth for a total of 33 years, he provided the ultimate example on how to live--performing many miracles by healing the sick, and...
Before I had my two children, I worked selling furniture and helping people to decorate their homes--my first passion--interior decorating/design and art! Before I went back to my first passion, I worked for a variety of non-profits and government sponsored programs--including AmeriCorps (domestic version of the PeaceCorps), D.H.S., and the University of TN. Before working in the non-profits, I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and really enjoyed being politically active with a group that addressed socio-economic injustices!
