Artist's Description
This work is to commemorate a special time in Grandma's Garden--a time when a young grandson felt, especially, close and connected with nature and Grandma--feeling at home and at peace there! By selecting a special effect to create an old fashioned look and a frame that looks like an old postage stamp, this gives this work a look of nostalgia! Background for Story: A little boy of one year of age is surprised when a Swallowtail Butterfly lights on his shirt! When the butterfly begins to flutter on his shirt, it blesses him by giving him a kiss with its wings! He is delighted with the butterfly's visit, and his face lights up with a look of wonder and surprise! Our creator blesses us so much with all the wonderful creatures he has created in our world to give us great joy and pleasure! That is what this drawing is about!
About Kimberlee Baxter
Before I had my two children, I worked selling furniture and helping people to decorate their homes--my first passion--interior decorating/design and art! Before I went back to my first passion, I worked for a variety of non-profits and government sponsored programs--including AmeriCorps (domestic version of the PeaceCorps), D.H.S., and the University of TN. Before working in the non-profits, I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and really enjoyed being politically active with a group that addressed socio-economic injustices! As a result, I decided to major in Political Science and Anthropology. Studying about different cultures, its art, and political systems has always fascinated me! I think that we can learn a...

Oh, that is so true! As I have often asked my daughter "Why does she want to fit in with the other girls...if those same girls make fun of her! Why would she want to be like them when she can make the choice here and now to be the person she was fully meant to be--herself!" It takes strength of character to not be afraid to be who you were called to be, so that we can truly feel free! Thanks for your very insightful and kind comments, Ryan! I hope that you have a Blessed week! May the Sales Ferry visit you very soon, my friend!

This piece is stunning Kimberlee, love the frame you've created as with the sketch details. It speaks to me about how children connect with nature at a more centered level. Something that is often lost as we grow to fit society. F/L
