Thanks so much, Cristina! To me a "long hard winter" can also be symbolic of someone going through trials and adversity! When the spring comes and starts to thaw all the "snow", or hard times, then the song rises up from the soul, or the spirit, and rejoices deeply with all the world!

Wonderful work F&L

Kimberlee Baxter replied:

Thank you, Carol. Maybe, we should ask the cardinal if it is springtime, instead of the Groundhog! Three cheers for Spring!

Lovely gorgeous artwork Kimberlee with an inspiring quote. Love the cardinal!!! v/f

Kimberlee Baxter replied:

Thank you, Genevieve. I appreciate your words of encouragement! The red cardinal is among my favorite of backyard birds! In times past, I have done a theme with this type of bird decorated on my Christmas trees and linens! Red is absolutely my favorite color! However, I feel that a little bit of red goes along way, because it has so much energy. This is the reason I love pairing it with a complementary color/s, such as green and white, which also makes it stand out well.

Artist's Description

A red cardinal bird has endured a long and hard winter snow. The sun has come out now and is beginning to melt the blanket of ice and snow. The bird becomes "bathed" in sunlight and appreciates its warm, soft glow! It begins to sing a beautiful, melodious song that can only be heard if one is quiet and listening: "Winter is over! Spring is on its way!" This version of the cardinal painting contains a quote with this message.

About Kimberlee Baxter

Before I had my two children, I worked selling furniture and helping people to decorate their homes--my first passion--interior decorating/design and art! Before I went back to my first passion, I worked for a variety of non-profits and government sponsored programs--including AmeriCorps (domestic version of the PeaceCorps), D.H.S., and the University of TN. Before working in the non-profits, I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and really enjoyed being politically active with a group that addressed socio-economic injustices! As a result, I decided to major in Political Science and Anthropology. Studying about different cultures, its art, and political systems has always fascinated me! I think that we can learn a...
