I like this detail from the larger piece. It speaks volumes!! v

Kimberlee Baxter replied:

Thanks, Carla. I do agree that this is the most striking part of the painting and works well on its own! It would make a very pretty card for Mother's Day or a lovely pendant like the ones you make, Carla!

Beautiful painting of roses in the shape of a heart!

Kimberlee Baxter replied:

Thank you, Debra. This is purely by accident--this shape! It must have been something in my subconscious, because in the original photo that I painted from, the shape of the cluster of roses was not in an evident heart shape! This heart-shaped cluster of pink roses with a little girl's outstretched hand is part of a bigger painting that is of my daughter, whose middle name, ironically, is Rose!

Artist's Description

A little girl is momentarily captivated by the beauty of her grandma's pink roses. She reaches out her hand to touch one of the velvety petals! She is so taken with their amazing beauty, that she is deeply affected or "touched" by them; hence, the title: "Touch of the Roses"! It is a play upon words--she is "touching the roses", while at the same time, she is being "touched" emotionally by them! That is the way the beauty of nature all around us can affect us when we are able to see with child like eyes!
Please note: The shape of the cluster of pink roses forms a heart shape, much like that of a box of Valentine's chocolates! This would make the perfect card for your special Valentine!
Also, this would be an excellent way to honor National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which usually is in October. It is a whole month of wearing pink for participants and activists in fundraising!

About Kimberlee Baxter

Kimberlee Baxter

Before I had my two children, I worked selling furniture and helping people to decorate their homes--my first passion--interior decorating/design and art! Before I went back to my first passion, I worked for a variety of non-profits and government sponsored programs--including AmeriCorps (domestic version of the PeaceCorps), D.H.S., and the University of TN. Before working in the non-profits, I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and really enjoyed being politically active with a group that addressed socio-economic injustices! As a result, I decided to major in Political Science and Anthropology. Studying about different cultures, its art, and political systems has always fascinated me! I think that we can learn a...
