Description
From the very first time I saw John Haldane's spiritually inspirational work "Bereavement Card 5 X 7", I knew that the verses taken from John 14:1-2 would be perfect for some of my artwork! You see it has only been a few short weeks since my own mother has passed, and it was as if she was speaking to me right through that verse--"Let not your heart be troubled...
I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14:1-2)! I was so touched, that my hands began to shake, and I began to cry...only these weren't tears of sorrow--but of joy! My mother, Judy, had been bed-ridden for nearly three years and was under Hospice care. It was a long ordeal for me and my family, but what really helped to get through it, was the kind and encouraging words of our circle of family and friends! Because I hope to uplift and encourage others during their most difficult times of coping and suffering from great loss, I now will offer a line of Bereavement or Sympathy cards. It is my hope that I will pass on this great gift of uplifting and inspiring others for good that my mother gave to me during her loving years when she was alive!
The title of this work--"Wishing You the Sunshine of Tomorrow!" was taken from a line of the poem dedicated to the memory of Jamilia Nahshe Ahmed, a young lady who just recently lost her battle with Leukemia. She was the beautiful and strong spirited daughter of a very dear friend! I have chosen this title for my painting, because I know that for many exhausted parents of little ones, especially those with children who have special needs or who are battling serious illness, there is something so comforting about thinking of the sunrise coming up in the morning on the next day! As they bend down the night before to kiss their little ones' heads, both the parent and child will seem to automatically smile and say in sync together: "See you in the morning!" There is so much comfort to be gained with the thought of the start of a fresh new day dawning...such joy comes then with the hope that with each new day, it will be better than the one before! But sometimes that hope is not fulfilled in real life, but must live on in the beautiful memories that the loved ones left behind have for those who have gone on to the other side! With the dedication of this painting in her memory, I want to wish Jamilia "The Sunshine of Tomorrow on the Other Side!"
To me, there is nothing more glorious and joyful than looking out into a field of flowers--wildflowers or domestically grown--they are such a pleasant feast of beauty to my eyes! I drink in their rainbow assortment of colors and how they dance across the field...this is where I am in my "Happy Place"! The only thing, in my opinion, more breathtaking than a field of flowers by itself is when it appears with a mountain scene or rolling hills with a bright and lovely sky along with it, so that is why I added these elements to the composition that was inspired from Nick Boren's amazing capture of a field of tulips!
This work was painted in honor of the late Jamilia who will be dearly missed! It will be donated to St. Jude's in honor of her memory! We also hope to raise awareness and money to help fight this terrible disease that afflicts little children, as well as young adults! Our hearts are very heavy with her untimely passing!
