Description
There is a place in my mind that is between heaven and earth that is spiritual in place and time...it is a metaphysical place! It is a place where my soul or spirit can soar and be free to dance, play, and roam the skies. I can still remember way back when I was child, I would stare for hours at the shape of the clouds overhead and imagine all kinds of different shapes--from animal forms to abstract ones--what is even more special is to see their reflection on the water. When I study the patterns of the reflections on the water and back up to the clouds, I like to envision a kind of imaginary ladder or stairway--a travel system--if you will, where I can climb or float like the clouds themselves up or down, wherever I wish to go! Other times, I imagine that I am like the Great Eagle and that my wings are the most powerful of any bird. Clearly, this place--Between Heaven and Earth--is my Happy Place!
Often, when I come away from my dream state of looking up and studying at the clouds and back down at the water, I experience such clarity and peace of mind, that I am blessed with a vision of what my next painting will be! Moments later, I am racing to write my ideas down in my art journal or type them onto my I-pad...before they are gone from my mind!
From the moment I first saw this scene at Fort Loudon Lake and captured it on my Cannon camera last year, I knew I had to paint this scene for you! The picture from which I painted this work from was taken around the Fall or the season of Autumn. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this artwork will be donated to the "No Victims Foundation" to raise money to help bring awareness to the community and train predominantly young females (but anyone can be targeted to be a victim!) self defense tactics, anti-bullying, and the prevention of becoming a victim to sex trafficking--ultimately, to end the violence against them, once and for all!
In this version, I have given a textured or distressed look and added in a capture of two swans interacting with each other that I took last year. I have cropped the shoreline or embankment and the two trees on either side and added in the focus of these two swans to help facilitate greater tranquility and adds a touch of grace and beauty! Enjoy!

A beautiful combination of deep peace and dynamic movement, Kimberlee.

Thank you, Joel! I always enjoy your thoughtful comments! Yes, I agree that this work achieves a balance between the calm of a meditative scene with a reflective scene on the lake, but with the swans swimming at a angle, has enough dynamic movement in the center to capture the eye and help to draw it in!
