Description
This Red lily flower is scarlet colored, which is reminiscent of blood, specifically, the blood that Christ shed for us on the cross! For Christians, the time of Easter is a time of remembrance of the sacrifice and atonement that Christ made for us on the cross! The proper name for day lilies is Hemerocallis. According to the Hemerocallis Society, the word Hemerocallis is derived from two Greek words meaning "beauty" and "day," referring to the fact that each flower lasts only one day. It is interesting to note that the day lily is overwintered as a bulb in a cool dark place. In other words, it completely dies back in the winter, and then makes its bright and memorable appearance for one day. This is a great parallel to the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ! He was crucified on the cross to the point of death, then he arose on the third day. He made his glorious presence known to his disciples briefly before his ascension back into heaven.
This would make an excellent Easter card for that special loved one to commemorate the time of remembrance of Christ's sacrifice and infinite love for us!

Also, the cards that you make are awesome! This would make a beautiful card for Easter, especially with this story to commemorate or remember the death, burial and resurrection of Christ!

The only thing more lovely and beautiful you have created then this amazing Day Lily Kimberlee was the adding of words to go along with it. Blessed is your heart Kimberlee. This is why God gave us the gift of being artists. The same as any gift God gives to convey His message. Like / Favorite
Kimberlee Baxter replied:
Thank you, Ken. It was only about a year ago when I felt God was calling me to get up and start painting, though I had only painted very briefly for a number of weeks for a beginners painting class I took years ago back in 1993! Looking back, I think that's where the FAITH comes in our spiritual journey--where you just have to take that leap of faith and trust like you do in skydiving--you take the jump and nothing but thin air is underneath you at first. You take the fall until you pull the shoot and the parachute spreads out and breaks the fall adding resistance to gravity! There is a time between the jump and when the parachute comes out that can be scary, but it is an extraordinary time for growth in FAITH in God! This is truly a METAPHOR for life! In other words, if we never get out of our comfort zone, we never grow! If we never grow, then we will never come to know what our FULL potential looks like!

Kimberlee Baxter replied:
Thank you, Genevieve. I originally painted this for an aunt on my husband's side of the family, Aunt Gen, for her birthday. Then, I later decided that it would also be good to include it for a future collection of what I hope to be as a set of cards "For All Seasons and Occasions"!
