Description
"The Eagle or the Great Thunderbird Spirit in the Sky"
To the Plains Indians, as well as other Native American tribes, the Eagle represents the king of all birds, or the Great Thunderbird Spirit! I have been at Native American Festivals, or POW WOWS, and seen the dancers stop the ceremonial dance or procession if even one of the Eagle's feathers fall to the ground, because it is considered so sacred!
This is a tribute to many of my Eagle dreams that I have had where I envision that I am flying far above the earth and looking down at all that is below! The sun warms my back and sets my feathers all aglow with its light! It is a beautiful dream...one that I sometimes wish that I would not wake up from! Someday when I do not, I know I will be flying in the Eternal Heavens!
This version has the text that was taken from the lyrics by Sir Francis Scott Key in the "Star-Spangled Banner", our National Anthem! I wanted to dedicate this work to the fallen soldiers who have given their lives for OUR Freedom! We salute their bravery, and because of THIER Great Courage and Sacrifice you and I, along with OUR Children can be Free! May God bless all the service men and women who have served this country, as well as their families! Here goes a Huge "THANK YOU!"
