If one looks closely into a hollyhock's flower-head, there is an amazing discovery within its flower, a five-pointed star, or the Star of Bethlehem is revealed! I painted the inside of these flower-heads brightly to be reminiscent of stained glass, to give them a spiritual and tranquil quality! Please note: This would make an excellent Christmas present or card for that special loved one!
Before I had my two children, I worked selling furniture and helping people to decorate their homes--my first passion--interior decorating/design and art! Before I went back to my first passion, I worked for a variety of non-profits and government sponsored programs--including AmeriCorps (domestic version of the PeaceCorps), D.H.S., and the University of TN. Before working in the non-profits, I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and really enjoyed being politically active with a group that addressed socio-economic injustices! As a result, I decided to major in Political Science and Anthropology. Studying about different cultures, its art, and political systems has always fascinated me! I think that we can learn a...

Beautiful, colorful and serene work with meaningful symbolism.
Kimberlee Baxter replied:
Thank you, Adam. I try to convey a message or create a feeling in each one of my paintings! This one, especially, because it was painted for a special and close friend of mine for her birthday recently!
Genevieve Esson
Love the intricate detail and lacy colors Kimberlee. Your artwork is so full of positive energy and love for life. I can definitely see this piece made into an awesome stained glass window. Stunning work! v/f

Thank you, Genevieve. I could say the same about your artwork! I guess that's why we both really like each other's artwork, because we are drawn to artwork that does that, whatever the medium or style!
Marvin Spates
Wow such lovely and detailed work Kimberlee!!! L
Kimberlee Baxter replied:
Thank you, Marvin. When you are painting for those you love, like the beautiful photography you do, you forget that there is any "work" involved! That is the way it is when you do something you love to do!
Margaret Pirrouette
i love the feeling of movement to this one..
Kimberlee Baxter replied:
Thank you, Margaret. Though, technically, this work could be classified as more of a "still life", I wanted it to feel more "alive" and dynamic!
Carla Parris
What a creative idea to use a stained glass type effect! Lovely painting! Enjoyed your description, too. v
Kimberlee Baxter replied:
Thank you, Carla. I painted it for a dear friend of mine, who is also an artist! She likes pinks and purples, and that is why I chose to paint the flowers in these colors. She is also a very spiritual person, which is why I chose this flower, the hollyhock, that has a five-pointed star in the flower's center! Her name is Freya. I have thought of also naming this after her to honor her--"Freya's Flowers"!
Jenny Rainbow
Wonderful painting, Kimberlee! Love the muted tones and flowers filled the frame! Beautiful!
Kimberlee Baxter replied:
Thank you, Jenny! I really appreciate the compliment, especially coming from you, because I love your work!
