Debbie, you are most welcome to do that! You honor me by listening and appreciating what I have to say, and I can honor and promote you, in turn! The world would be a better place if we would help each other! I think Zig Ziglar said it best when he said: "You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want." My intent is to engage in life in a "Win-win" situation to the fullest extent and wherever possible! I hope that you have a Blessed Day and week ahead of you, my friend!

Wow, Tessa, you really know how to make a girl feel dynamite! Thanks for your generous and thoughtful comments! To answer your question, it is sort of a tie between the green snake sneaking from beneath the surface of the water and the green frog who already has its tongue stuck out! Unfortunately, for the frog, the snake can trump it, too!

Beautiful painting Kimberlee and I love the story behind it! You are not only a fantastic artist but story teller too. I wonder who gets the mosquito or does she manage to survive? l/f

Thank you, Ana Maria, for honoring me with your thoughtful comments! I like to create a story, almost a dialogue within my paintings, especially when these little creatures are involved! Thanks for appreciating this work with me! I appreciate your support!

Thanks so much, Maria, for your thoughtful comment! I am glad that this work "speaks" to you! Yes, the frog looks as if he has the most probable chance of getting this pesky insect (with his tongue!)--the mosquito!

Kimberlee.. how delightful is this painting. I love that you gave the viewer 2 perspectives on this image. One with the Koi in the water, including this beautifully-rendered frog ( the viewer takes in the full painting), In this image, the frog has the spotlight and tells his story of lunch on the lilypads. Beautifully done, Kimberlee refreshing.

Very clever. I wonder what those critters do when I stick my toe in? No, no, I won't, too many water moccasins.

Kimberlee Baxter replied:

It's a wild, wild world out there! At least these critters do only what is necessary in order to survive, and we call them "uncivilized". But in the corporate world, you seem to have a similar atmosphere, and the name of the game is all about making more money! I think I could trust these critters more than I can that kind of mentality!

I love this painting and the story behind it.

Kimberlee Baxter replied:

Thank you, Maria. It means a lot to me when other people understand why I paint what I paint and why! That is why I do what I do!

Artist's Description

It is a "Day of Judgment" for a pesky mosquito that has just laid eggs on a water lily pad! A green frog has spotted it and sticks its tongue out to eat it and its eggs, but the frog has competition in getting its food source! Some Koi fish also have spotted the pest and are coming up to the surface to get it as well. But wait, a green snake may get the mosquito before the other predators do! It is sneaking up to the water lily pad from underneath the grass reeds. The mosquito is trying to fly off and is only a few inches from the ground! Will it make it? In the original painting, I show a dragonfly overhead to help fight the mosquito in the air. Dragonflies have tremendous aerial capabilities! They can fly forwards or backwards and in any direction, as well as extremely fast. No other predator insect can match its stealth and speed!

Before I had my two children, I worked selling furniture and helping people to decorate their homes--my first passion--interior decorating/design and art! Before I went back to my first passion, I worked for a variety of non-profits and government sponsored programs--including AmeriCorps (domestic version of the PeaceCorps), D.H.S., and the University of TN. Before working in the non-profits, I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and really enjoyed being politically active with a group that addressed socio-economic injustices! As a result, I decided to major in Political Science and Anthropology. Studying about different cultures, its art, and political systems has always fascinated me! I think that we can learn a...
