Thanks, Glen. I am glad you like how it turned out! I think that this work greatly benefitted from your technical advice on how to paint the bees--their position and size in relation to the flowers! You are a master at art and painting, Glen! God has given you a great gift, my friend!

This is a wonderful piece. Love the bees. Well done.

Kimberlee Baxter replied:

Thank you, Sharon. I appreciate the compliment! Honey Bees are wonderful and necessary creatures! Without them, it would be next to impossible to pollinate all of the flowers! Plus, we would not have sweet and delicious honey that is packed full of antioxidants! By keeping a more nature friendly garden and yard, we can all help do our part in some small way!

Stunning work Kimerlee! My best, Juergen

Kimberlee Baxter replied:

Thanks, once again, Juergen, for your kind words! I loved painting this for a close friend's daughter, Jamilia, who is right now battling for her life as she fights being sick from leukemia! I painted this piece to give her hope and had a necklace made using the design, so that I could give it to her to wear to encourage and uplift her in some small way!

Love the detail , colors and composition. The bees and butterflies are so cool. I love how you did the background. from Well done work if art. It's really refreshing to see beautiful artwork such as your. It's inspiring!!! v/f

Kimberlee Baxter replied:

Thank you, Genevieve. I wanted to paint something that shows how in nature, there is competition, yet, there is harmony! The bees and the butterfly do a sort of "dance" around each other to drink from the daisy flowers nectar! I love that about nature! It inspires me and gives me hope for mankind, because we can find a WAY also, if we try hard enough!

Artist's Description

A butterfly and two honeybees are lighting upon some daisies. Though they are in competition with each other for a food source, nectar from the flowers, they still manage to find a way to work together synergistically with each other by "dancing" around each other! When we see that even the animals in the natural world we live in know how to make a way to get along with each other, it gives us hope for humanity--that we can, in turn, do the same!
This painting, along with a few others, will be donated to a very dear friend of mine who recently lost her lovely daughter Jamilia to Leukemia! We hope to raise awareness and money to help fight this terrible disease that afflicts little children, as well as young adults! Our hearts are very heavy with her untimely passing! You can visit her website at http://curejamilianow.webs.com/
This work was made possible through the generous contribution of an amazing photographer, Tanya Myatt Baker! It is from her photograph, that I painted...

About Kimberlee Baxter

Kimberlee Baxter

Before I had my two children, I worked selling furniture and helping people to decorate their homes--my first passion--interior decorating/design and art! Before I went back to my first passion, I worked for a variety of non-profits and government sponsored programs--including AmeriCorps (domestic version of the PeaceCorps), D.H.S., and the University of TN. Before working in the non-profits, I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and really enjoyed being politically active with a group that addressed socio-economic injustices! As a result, I decided to major in Political Science and Anthropology. Studying about different cultures, its art, and political systems has always fascinated me! I think that we can learn a...
