Roses Are Red Violets are Blue But a Mother's Love Is the Most True
Artist
Kimberlee Baxter
Medium
Painting - Acrylic/digital
Description
A single rose is showcased from the original work "Delight of Grandma's Roses Painting". Grandma's Roses are preserved here for reflection and preserving precious and timeless memories. In years past, all of her grandchildren have enjoyed their bright velvety texture and heady scent in their due season. They are truly a delight to the senses and the soul when in full bloom!
The title was inspired by my work "Love...a beautiful rose with thorns!" Please refer to it under my other images or under the "Flowers and Leaves" Gallery. It is a beautiful metaphor of life and of a mother's love, which is bittersweet, in that we don't get to enjoy the full promise of life without the "thorns" or the sacrifice (the tears and the heartache) that often comes along with it!
This would make an excellent design for a Mother's Day Card! Also, it is perfect for a design for a resin necklace, like that of Carla Parris's!

Thank you, Carla, for your kind comments! I think that I might have been influenced by another artist, too! When I paint flowers, especially a macro version, I can't help but think of Georgia O'keeffe's masterful large scaled paintings of Flower heads! Her work is truly inspirational to me!

I have been painting away, getting ready for my upcoming show in Seaside, and I realized that have done three still life paintings with roses! I just had a flash of realization that I think I must have been subconsciously inspired by this beautiful painting of yours! I absolutely love your style and approach - almost like a macro photograph!! I have another artist friend who describes his work as "magnified realism," and I think that perfectly describes your roses! I love, love, love them!!

This cropped version of my original rose painting is one of my favorites, because there are few things, in my opinion, when it comes to flowers more elegant and that speaks the language of "love" that a single, elegant red rose! Thanks for all of your compliments and fav.s, Heidi! I really appreciate it!
