But Ben Franklin changed the above words and, in so doing, may have had a profound effect on the course of women's history... Franklin made only a few small changes, but one of them was resounding. Using heavy backslashes, he crossed out the last three words of Jefferson's phrase, "We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable" and changed it to read: "We hold these truths to be self-evident." Sadly, even after lives have been sacrificed and two wars have been fought on American soil to uphold these ideals for all Americans, including African Americans, there is a war being waged now in the guise of a radical form of religion that seeks to subjugate these self evident truths for all, (which should be held "sacred and undeniable") including of the female gender--WOMEN! I am calling NOW for a time for women all across the globe to wake to this ideal and realize that these truths are self evident for all women, as well as men! We, too, have the right for the pursuit of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"! Our bodies, endowed by the creator, are not your right of conquest to be defiled, neither are they "seats of corruption"! They belong to us and, like yours, are made in the image of Our Creator! Now, the full meaning of the words that Ben Franklin changed: "We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable." comes home to roost and astounding are the consequences of that seemingly insignificant change!
WOMEN, this is OUR time to celebrate our feminine side and come together to demand that these truths and rights be guaranteed and are regarded as "sacred and undeniable" and upheld and reflected in the laws of the land in which we live!
Note: Because I advocate for the rights of all humans, including those unborn as well those born, I can not in good conscience, authorize the use of this work for those who would seek to use it to further the denial of those rights to the unborn! It is my humble opinion, that the ultimate way to say or express love for all, male or female beings, is to not take away that life in the womb when you are a mother-to-be! Furthermore, I firmly believe that nothing says more from us as women and mothers that we love and value all life, especially female in the form of our daughters, than to give them a chance to live out a life full of the opportunity for "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" that should be considered as "sacred and undeniable"!
